As a Union JW Electrician/Foreman, the role involves installing, maintaining, and repairing electrical systems, equipment, and fixtures in compliance with local and national electrical codes. The individual will work independently or as part of a team to ensure safe and efficient operation of electrical systems in various settings, including commercial, industrial, and residential environments.

Requirements

  • Valid journeyman electrician license with the State of Wisconsin or willingness to obtain
  • Completion of a recognized electrical apprenticeship program or union training program.
  • Or 12,000 hours worked in Electrical field
  • Or 8,000 hours worked and 500 - 1000 classroom hours completed
  • Strong knowledge of local and national electrical codes and regulations.
  • Proficiency in using electrical hand tools, power tools, and testing equipment.
  • Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong Technical Aptitude
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.

Responsibilities

  • Perform electrical installations, maintenance, and repairs on a wide range of electrical systems, including lighting, power distribution, and control systems.
  • Diagnose and resolve electrical problems in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Identify and rectify issues with wiring, circuits, fuses, and other components.
  • Ensure all work is completed in accordance with local and national electrical codes and regulations.
  • Keep up to date with any changes in codes or standards.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings to determine the layout of electrical systems and components.
  • Adhere to strict safety protocols and procedures, including the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and adherence to lockout/tagout procedures.
  • Coordinate and communicate effectively with other team members, contractors, and project managers to ensure projects are completed on time and within budget.
  • Maintain accurate records of work performed, including work orders, equipment inspections, and materials used.
  • Stay current with advancements in electrical technology, tools, and equipment.
  • Attend relevant training and professional development sessions as required.
  • Supervise, mentor, and direct the daily work of electricians, apprentices, and CWs on the job site.
  • Develop daily and weekly work plans, assign tasks, and adjust priorities as needed to maintain project timelines.
  • Inspect ongoing work to ensure it meets quality standards, specifications, and code requirements.
  • Serve as the primary on-site contact for project managers, general contractors, and other trades.
  • Monitor and coordinate delivery of materials, tools, and equipment to maintain workflow efficiency.
  • Address and resolve on-site issues quickly to prevent delays and maintain safety.
  • Enforce safety rules and conduct site safety checks; ensure all crew members are following established safety protocols.
  • Provide regular updates to project managers on work progress, manpower needs, and any potential delays.
  • Assist in the training and skill development of apprentices and less-experienced electricians.
