About The Position

The JV Head Boys Volleyball Coach at South Burlington School District is responsible for directing student athletes in individual and team fundamentals, strategies, and physical training necessary for participation in sports. This role involves assisting the Varsity Coach with administrative duties, ensuring proper documentation and safeguarding of equipment and facilities, and supervising student athletes during all sport-related activities. The coach must stay current on technical aspects of the sport and trends, and may perform other assigned duties. A collaborative team environment, leadership, mentoring, and good sportsmanship are essential.

Requirements

• Effective organizational, communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills.
• Working knowledge of computers and fitness equipment.
• Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.
• Ability to perform duties with awareness of all District requirements and School Board policies.
• Knowledge of existing system, state, and league regulations.

Nice To Haves

• Direct experience in organizing and leading a comprehensive sports program is preferred.
• Advanced knowledge and/or demonstrated continued learning in health and fitness area is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assists in the administrative duties for the assigned sport, including scheduling, coordinating transportation, preparing practices and events, coordinating facility use, ensuring proper documentation for student athletes, and providing budget information.
• Is accountable for all equipment and safeguarding of school property, including collecting costs for damaged or lost equipment, arranging for issuing and storing equipment, maintaining inventory, instilling respect for property, providing safeguards for equipment and storage sites, monitoring equipment rooms, examining locker rooms, securing facilities, and ensuring equipment cleanliness and maintenance.
• Responsible for the activities of assigned athletes, including providing training rules, traveling to/from and attending practices and games, providing assistance and safeguards, supervising athletes during transport and in facilities, directing managers/assistants, permitting access to authorized areas, enforcing discipline, and working to increase morale and resolve disputes.
• Keeps current on the technical aspects of team sports, sport trends, developments, and research by attending clinics, conferences, and contests.
• May perform other duties as assigned.
