About The Position

Cristo Rey Orlando High School is seeking a mission-driven Junior Varsity Boys Basketball Head Coach who plays a vital role in developing student-athletes as leaders on and off the court. As this is the school’s founding year for athletics, the coach will have the unique opportunity to build and establish the basketball program from its beginning. The coach will focus on skill development, teamwork, sportsmanship, and fostering a culture that reflects the school’s Catholic values and mission.

Requirements

  • Prior coaching and/or competitive playing experience in basketball.
  • Demonstrated ability to teach, motivate, and mentor high school athletes.
  • Commitment to the mission, values, and Catholic identity of Cristo Rey Orlando.
  • Ability to work evenings and weekends during the season.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous high school or club coaching experience.
  • Knowledge of FHSAA rules and regulations.
  • CPR/First Aid certification.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Lead all aspects of the JV basketball program, including practices, games, and conditioning.
  • Teach fundamentals of basketball, teamwork, and leadership in alignment with the mission of Cristo Rey Orlando.
  • Promote good sportsmanship, discipline, and respect among athletes.
  • Ensure the safety and well-being of all student-athletes at practices and games.
  • Collaborate with the Athletic Director to establish program structure, traditions, and goals in this founding year.
  • Coordinate with the Athletic Director regarding scheduling, uniforms, transportation, and facilities.
  • Communicate consistently with players, families, and school staff.
  • Support the development of players to be ready for varsity competition.
  • Performs other duties and special projects as assigned by the Athletic Director.
