About The Position

Climax-Scotts Jr/Sr High School is seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable JV Girls Basketball Coach to support our high school girls basketball program. The ideal candidate will be committed to fostering athletic excellence, personal growth, teamwork, and sportsmanship in student-athletes. This position includes planning and leading practices, coaching contests, developing players, and working closely with the varsity coach to build a cohesive basketball program aligned across all levels.

Requirements

• Minimum of high school diploma or equivalent required
• Demonstrated knowledge of basketball fundamentals, rules, and strategies
• Ability to effectively teach, motivate, and develop student-athletes
• Strong leadership skills with a commitment to being a positive role model
• Ability to organize, manage, and work with individuals and groups
• Strong communication skills and ability to build positive relationships with stakeholders
• Commitment to maintaining confidentiality in accordance with the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA)

Nice To Haves

• Previous coaching experience in basketball is preferred
• Passion for developing student-athletes and contributing to a comprehensive girls basketball program
• Commitment to sportsmanship, integrity, and student-centered coaching
• Willingness to collaborate with school staff, families, and the community
• Ability to help build and sustain a positive culture that supports long-term program success

Responsibilities

• Plan, organize, and conduct daily practices, conditioning sessions, and skill development drills
• Coach and manage all JV girls basketball games and tournaments
• Teach and reinforce proper basketball fundamentals, techniques, game strategies, and rules
• Collaborate with the varsity coach and other program coaches to ensure consistency, effective communication, and player development
• Promote academic success, character development, and a positive team culture
• Maintain inventory and care of equipment, and assist the varsity coach and athletic director with program needs
• Communicate effectively with student-athletes, parents, coaching staff, athletic director, and school administration
• Ensure compliance with all school, conference, and MHSAA regulations
