About The Position

The Avondale School District is seeking a JV Boys Volleyball Coach for Avondale High School. This role involves instructing high school athletes in the fundamental skills and strategy of volleyball, while also instilling moral values, pride of accomplishment, acceptable social behavior, self-discipline, and self-confidence. The coach will be responsible for teaching techniques, demonstrating skills, understanding rules and regulations, managing equipment and facilities, conducting structured practices, and serving as a positive role model for the team. Additionally, the coach will conduct fundraisers for team supplies and needs.

Requirements

  • Experience coaching volleyball.
  • Experience or plan of building a K-12 volleyball program.
  • Knowledge/experience scheduling practices and off-season workouts.
  • Ability to lead, organize, and supervise all aspects of the volleyball program.
  • Strong leadership skills.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Commitment to developing student-athletes both on and off the court.
  • Works cooperatively with administrators, students, parents, and community.
  • Ability to maintain control of storage and use of school-owned property.
  • Ability to maintain professional competence.

Responsibilities

  • Provide instruction of high school athletes in the fundamental skills and strategy of volleyball.
  • Instill moral values, pride of accomplishment, acceptable social behavior, self-discipline, and self-confidence.
  • Teach techniques and fundamentals of the sport.
  • Demonstrate all skills necessary for the sport.
  • Be knowledgeable about the rules and regulations of the sport.
  • Assume the responsibility for constant care of equipment and facilities being used.
  • Conduct structured practices that stay within the confines of the specified times at the Athletic Department.
  • Be an example of good character and sportsmanship to the team at all times.
  • Conduct fundraisers to provide money for team supplies and needs.
  • Lead, organize, and supervise all aspects of the volleyball program.
  • Develop a positive team culture focused on sportsmanship, accountability, and academic success.
  • Ensure player safety and adherence to district, league, and MHSAA policies.
  • Coordinate offseason conditioning, strength training, and skill development programs.
  • Maintain control of storage and use of school-owned property.
  • Maintain professional competence.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Athletic Director.
