About The Position

This role involves leading and managing all aspects of the Junior Varsity (JV) volleyball program. The coach will be responsible for practices, matches, player development, and fostering a positive team culture. A key aspect of the role is to teach fundamental volleyball skills and game strategy, while also developing athletes physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually. The coach will provide constructive feedback, coordinate with the varsity coaching staff, and supervise student-athletes. Effective communication with all stakeholders, including players, parents, administration, and the athletic department, is essential. The position requires ensuring compliance with school and SCISA policies, organizing equipment and schedules, and monitoring athlete eligibility and conduct. A strong emphasis is placed on promoting Christian character, sportsmanship, a strong work ethic, perseverance, and a team-first mentality. The coach will also mentor student-athletes, modeling Christian values in all interactions.

Requirements

2-3 years of relevant coaching experience preferred
Prior experience with student-athletes or in an educational setting
Be a born-again Christian, committed to the Lord, exhibiting a close and dynamic daily walk with Jesus Christ.
Be in agreement with and able to support the school’s Statement of Faith.
Be a student of God's Word and be able to apply Biblical truth in speaking and counseling situations.
Place the oneness of the Body of Christ above membership in a particular denomination or church.
Understand the distinctives of athletics within a Christian worldview and at HHCA and be committed to those distinctives.
Have excellent interpersonal skills and be able to communicate effectively with staff, students, faculty and parents.
Have a teachable spirit and be able to take criticism with a willingness to learn and grow.
Be well organized.
Have excellent computer skills.
Maintain confidentiality in all school matters.
Be able to follow through on communications and decisions.
Have professional experience and qualifications that match the needs and responsibilities of the position.
Have the ability to present a positive image of the school to others and to the community.

Responsibilities

Lead and manage all aspects of the JV volleyball program, including practices, matches, player development, and team culture.
Teach and reinforce fundamental volleyball skills, game strategy, etc.
Plan and conduct organized, safe, and engaging practices.
Develop athletes physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually.
Evaluate player performance and provide constructive feedback for improvement.
Coordinate with varsity coaching staff to align program goals and athlete development.
Supervise student-athletes during practices, games, travel, and team events.
Maintain effective communication with players, parents, school administration, and athletic department staff.
Ensure compliance with school and SCISA policies and regulations.
Organize equipment, uniforms, and practice/game schedules.
Monitor athlete eligibility, attendance, and conduct standards.
Promote and build a team and positive program culture of strong Christian character, sportsmanship, diligent work ethic, perseverance and team above self.
Mentor student athletes on and off the field, consistently modeling a Christian witness in all interactions, including but not limited to interactions with players, parents, officials, coaching staff, opposing teams and coaches.
