Juvenile Specialist - On Call
About The Position
Under the supervision of a Detention Supervisor – Juvenile Care Center, this role provides for the safety, welfare, and security of the residents, staff, visitors, and building. The Juvenile Specialist supervises, guides, and counsels residents through daily activities within the framework of the day treatment and detention units. This role enforces rules within a behavior management setting by providing positive and authoritative reinforcements. The position also involves preparing a variety of reports, court reports, and documents detailing residents' functioning in a structured setting.
Requirements
- Associate’s Degree in social work, psychology, sociology, criminal justice, counseling, or related field.
- Two years of progressively more responsible experience in a childcare institution, detention, or juvenile residential treatment facility.
- Valid Michigan Vehicle Operator’s License.
- Must obtain certification in CPR, CPI and First Aid to maintain employment.
