The Juvenile Probation Officer works in the Juvenile Court Department and is responsible for requirements under TCA 37-1-105, supervising cases, submitting monthly status reports to the State of Tennessee, and facilitating and teaching juvenile probation classes. The role supervises a high-risk caseload of juveniles on County probation and coordinates assessments and services based on individual needs and court orders. It includes court attendance, case documentation, compliance monitoring, and collaboration with staff, agencies, families, and service providers. The position works under close supervision initially, with more general supervision as the incumbent gains skill. It has no fiscal or supervisory responsibilities, though the officer is expected to demonstrate leadership. Work takes place in an office and in client and service-provider homes, detention and residential facilities, treatment settings, schools, courts, and work sites. The role involves occasional physical activity, frequent travel, moderate stress, and potential exposure to unsafe or challenging situations.
