About The Position

As a Juvenile Detention Officer in Columbia, SC, you will serve and safeguard clients in a range of industries such as Government, and more. Requirements

  • A valid driver’s license is required in the state where the job is located.
  • At least 6 months of security-related experience is required.
  • Be at least 21 years of age.
  • Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
  • Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
  • A valid driver’s license will be required for driving positions only.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with access control and badge systems is preferred.
  • Comfort using a computer or tablet is preferred.
  • Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.

Responsibilities

  • Provide customer service to visitors, staff, and/or vendors by following site-specific access control procedures, identification checks, and entry authorization protocols at a government location.
  • Monitor entrances, exits, and restricted areas to help control access, document arrivals and departures, and report unusual activity or policy concerns to the appropriate personnel.
  • Respond to incidents, alarms, and critical situations in a calm, problem-solving manner while supporting security-related procedures and emergency response activities.
  • Conduct regular and random patrols around the location and perimeter, noting conditions, checking access points, and communicating observations through required reports.
  • Assist with screening processes, visitor management, and/or package inspections as directed by site policies to help support order and compliance within the location.
