About The Position

This is a grant-funded position within Juvenile Court that serves as the Volunteer Coordinator for the Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) program. The current grant funding extends through September 30, 2026, with the potential for continued employment pending an approved grant extension. Please list experience working with volunteers in the work history section of the application. Applicant must be able to work flexible hours, some evenings, and some weekends, with advance notice.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Human Services, Public Administration, Social Work, Criminal Justice or related field
Two years experience working with volunteers, or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job.
Must possess and maintain a valid Driver's License.
Ability to exert light physical effort in sedentary to light work, but which may involve some lifting, carrying, pushing and/or pulling of objects and materials of light weight (5-10 pounds).
Ability to perceive and discriminate colors or shades of colors and sounds.
Ability to communicate orally.
Ability to edit reports and documents for accuracy, relevancy, and grammar.

Responsibilities

Develops, coordinates, implements, and oversees the volunteer program consistent with the mission and goals of the Juvenile Court.
Uses a variety of recruitment and retention strategies to recruit, cultivate, and steward a sustainable pool of volunteers.
Coordinates, conducts, and facilitates training for volunteers.
Supervises and evaluates volunteers.
May coach and counsel volunteers on all relevant personnel issues and concerns.
Serves as a liaison between Juvenile Court staff and volunteers; meets with leadership team to determine the type and level of volunteer service needs; resolves problems.
Performs a variety of administrative tasks including developing and/or revising policies and procedures, preparing presentations and maintaining data records and files.
Manages and maintains a volunteer database, including tracking volunteer hours, records on activities and performance of volunteers, preparing reports, as needed.
Works with the County communications department to develop and implement marketing and information strategies including public information releases, internal and external communications, audio-visual materials and website and social media updates related to the Juvenile Court volunteer program.
Develops and maintains cooperative efforts and relationships with public and private agencies, organizations, associations and groups to promote volunteer programs.
Interviews prospective volunteers, conducts orientation for those selected, and makes work assignments on the basis of individual interests, abilities, time available for duty, and the needs of the Court.
The candidate must be able to edit reports and documents for accuracy, relevancy, and grammar.
Serves as a liaison between volunteers and internal/external collateral entities to promote advocacy for court involved children.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
