About The Position

As an Access Control Officer at a government juvenile services location, you will help manage entry points, verify access, monitor activity, and support a secure, professional environment for staff and visitors. You will provide exceptional customer service, communicate clearly, and use technology to document security-related information. Requirements

• Possess a valid driver’s license in the state where the job is located.
• Meet DPSS/DHS tuberculosis test and MMR vaccination requirements.
• Have at least 6 months of security-related experience.
• Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
• Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
• As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
• As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
• Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
• A valid driver’s license will be required for driving positions only.

Nice To Haves

• Customer service experience is preferred.
• Comfort using a computer or tablet is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide customer service to staff, visitors, youth, and authorized personnel while carrying out access-control procedures, site-specific policies, and when appropriate, emergency response activities at a government juvenile services location.
• Monitor entry and exit points, verify identification and authorization, maintain visitor logs, and direct individuals according to established facility procedures.
• Respond to incidents, alarms, and critical situations in a calm, professional, problem-solving manner, notifying appropriate facility personnel and/or emergency responders as directed.
• Control access to restricted areas, receive and document deliveries, and report unauthorized access attempts, suspicious activity, and policy violations to designated personnel.
• Conduct regular and random patrols of assigned entry points, surrounding areas, and perimeter locations, documenting observations and reporting security-related concerns.
