About Pendleton Juvenile Correctional Facility: Pendleton Juvenile Correctional Facility is a maximum‑security facility located in Pendleton, Indiana, with 391 beds for incarcerated juvenile males. The facility includes multiple general population housing complexes, an admission and orientation unit, and a secure housing area. Its campus‑style layout includes medical services, food and laundry operations, indoor recreation areas, a chapel, and Providence Jr./Sr. High School. Outdoor recreation areas include fields, courts, and a running track. The perimeter is monitored 24/7 to ensure safety. Role Overview: Your work will be performed within the guidelines established by the Department of Correction and American Correctional Association (ACA) standards. Guidelines are generally applicable, but you must use judgment in dealing with unpredictable actions or unusual situations. Judgment is also necessary in the development of appropriate lesson plans, and to meet course objectives. The work is broad in scope and involves many variables when dealing with the unique problems of individual students who may be dealing with physical and/or mental disabilities. The supervisor does not issue specific instructions before the course of work but discusses the general objectives of the course to be taught and of the educational mission of the institution. The supervisor may also offer suggestions related to the preparation of lesson plans or solutions to unique problems. Work is reviewed on a regular interval by the supervisor for compliance with the laws, regulations, procedures, and standards. You will have full responsibility for many non-routine decisions in determining student progress and methods and materials to be used in teaching. In the event of an emergency, you must immediately exhibit effective leadership. The consequences of error could be extreme if disturbances were to occur.
