About The Position

The Administrative Aide in the Juvenile Division is a first level entry position that provides para-professional probation and parole work support. The A.A. has a significant degree of contact with defendants, offenders, and the public. The A.A. may assist professional staff in providing services to offenders. Close supervision is received from a professional or technical supervisor through an evaluation of performance and potential.

Requirements

  • Interpersonal skills for effective communication with persons at a myriad of educational and socio-economic levels.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with individuals, other agencies, institutions, and the public.
  • Ability to express ideas clearly and effectively, orally and in writing.
  • Effective problem solving abilities.
  • Ability to work independently with guidance from a superior.
  • Ability to use a computer and type accurately with knowledge of standard computer office software such as Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to operate office equipment including, but not limited to, photocopier and scanner.
  • High School Diploma

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of the Juvenile Justice System and its terminology.

Responsibilities

  • Participates in basic in-service and on-the-job training programs designed to develop requisite knowledge and skills.
  • Assists in receiving inquiries and providing information and referral services.
  • Assists staff by providing information to inquiring persons, offenders, and other agencies.
  • Compiles information concerning juvenile’s physical condition, social and economic situation, work experience, public assistance, health and social welfare, vocational rehabilitation, and housing.
  • May open and sort incoming mail for proper distribution.
  • Tracks data and prepares Statistical Report for the Administrative Office of Pennsylvania courts (AOPC).
  • Prepares reports from the Juvenile Case Management System. (JCMS)
  • Responsible for accurate data entry into the approved case management systems including, but not limited to, allegations, petitions, dispositions, referral notations, and case notations.
  • May interview families for financial information related to the placement of their child.
  • Verifies and prepares billing for payment.
  • Performs other duties as directed by management staff.
