About The Position

The Maryland Department of General Services (DGS) supports State and local government agencies, as well as local non-profit organizations and the citizens of Maryland, by providing facilities management, real estate and surplus property services, as well as security and law enforcement for State buildings. DGS is also responsible for a full spectrum of facilities engineering, design and construction services, almost $1 billion in annual contract administration, and overseeing the State procurement process. The primary purpose of this position is to provide administrative support to the Division Commander of the Field Operations Bureau of the Maryland Capitol Police, as well as to all members of that Bureau. The individual in this role supports the agency's mission by facilitating and documenting departmental activities and ensuring effective communication both within the agency and with external stakeholders.

Requirements

  • Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate.
  • Four years performing secretarial work or clerical work involving typing duties.
  • Demonstrate the ability to accurately type on a keyboard on a personal computer at a minimum of forty words per minute may be required, depending on the specific requirements of the position.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience establishing, revising, and implementing office procedures.
  • Experience managing telephone calls, welcoming visitors, and coordinating appointments and interviews.
  • Experience maintaining the confidentiality of records and reports.

Responsibilities

  • Assists in processing and maintaining all records related to the Annapolis Division, including but not limited to payroll, personnel files, performance evaluations, training records, and certification records.
  • Acts as liaison responding promptly and accurately to special requests made by the Chief of Police, Members of the headquarters division of the Maryland Capitol Police, Department of General Services, and the public.
  • Transcribes taped police interviews in cases of incidents, complaints, or allegations made against the department and department staff.
