About The Position

The Office of the Jury Commissioner (OJC) is dedicated to providing randomly selected pools of eligible jurors, representative of the community, to each jury court in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. The OJC is committed to educating the public on the importance of jury service and providing professional service to the public and the courts. This position manages the operations of the Jury Operations office, ensuring adequate staffing and timely processing of items. It performs operational, administrative, and fiscal functions for the OJC, manages individualized requests, and oversees personnel, payroll, benefits, procurement, and contracts. Other duties include leave administration, report creation, and data analysis.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university
  • Five (5) years of related work experience
  • Demonstrated capacity to supervise staff is required.
  • Equivalent combinations of education and experience will be considered for meeting minimum qualifications.
  • Knowledge of modern office equipment, including computers and business software.
  • Knowledge of Departmental and court policies and procedures.
  • Knowledge of Principles and practices of employee supervision.
  • Knowledge of Website and email functionality.
  • Knowledge of Workflow processing.

Responsibilities

  • Manages administrative and fiscal functions of Office of Jury Commissioner.
  • Supervises the work of assigned personnel, including assigning and reviewing work, providing guidance, and conducting performance evaluations.
  • Manages administrative functions of OJC, including personnel, payroll, benefits, procurement, and contracts.
  • Manages ADA requests and accommodations for jurors, including Deaf Juror Program in conjunction with Massachusetts Commission for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing.
  • Gives aid and support to jury pool officers and court personnel.
  • Monitors expenses, contracts, and budget activities in the Office of Jury Commissioner.
  • Compiles and provides monthly department reports, fiscal year annual reports, and calendar year annual reports.
  • Assists in providing customer support and service to incoming questions or issues from jurors and court personnel.
  • Manages leaves and HRCMS changes, including oversight of time and attendance.
  • Administers the accounts payable, encumbrances, contracts, and monthly and fiscal annual reports.
  • Participates in discussions related to human resources and fiscal matters and operations with OJC senior management and members the Office of Court Management.
  • Performs other duties as required.
