About The Position

The Junior Yellow Ball Tennis Director is responsible for the leadership, development, administration, and financial performance of the club’s junior high-performance tennis programs. This role combines hands-on coaching and program delivery with strategic planning, staff leadership, parent and player engagement, tournament development, and business growth. The Director will create a high-quality, relationship-driven environment that supports the technical, competitive, and personal development of junior athletes while ensuring programs operate efficiently, profitably, and in alignment with the club’s overall tennis strategy.

Requirements

Minimum of 20 hours per week dedicated to Director/administrative responsibilities.
No set maximum number of teaching hours, provided that the required 20 hours per week of Director/administrative responsibilities are consistently fulfilled and all leadership, administrative, and program expectations are met.
Maintain a visible presence both on court and within the club, balancing coaching responsibilities with the strategic and administrative leadership required to grow and strengthen the Junior Yellow Ball Tennis program.

Responsibilities

Lead and instruct the club’s Yellow Ball, Junior Tournament Training, Tournament Training Academy (TTA), Varsity Clinic, Player Development, and Fast Track Tennis programs.
Provide on-court leadership, coaching, observation, and mentorship across all assigned high-performance programs.
Create and maintain curriculum for all tennis programs outside of the ROG program.
Develop progressive pathways that support players as they transition from ROG into higher-performance programming.
Lead special events, clinics, match-play opportunities, exhibitions, and activities associated with high-performance programming.
Participate in club pro-am events, exhibitions, and other tennis-related events as assigned.
Work collaboratively with the ROG Director to identify and develop future high-performance players.
Establish and maintain coaching standards to ensure consistency and quality across all programs.
Own the overall performance, growth, quality, and financial success of the Yellow Ball, Junior Tournament Training, TTA, Varsity Clinic, Player Development, and Fast Track Tennis programs.
Increase annual net income through strategic programming, enrollment growth, retention, pricing, staffing, scheduling, and ancillary opportunities.
Work with the Tennis Director to establish short-, medium-, and long-term goals, benchmarks, and key performance indicators for each program.
Develop and implement an annual operating plan for high-performance programming.
Monitor enrollment, participation, revenue, expenses, staffing, and profitability and make recommendations for improvement.
Identify opportunities to grow participation, improve retention, and increase the value of the high-performance tennis pathway.
Develop and maintain a comprehensive Yellow Ball & Junior Yellow Ball Tennis Camp Playbook outlining program standards, processes, timelines, and best practices.
Oversee all aspects of program administration.
Deliver registration information and required documentation to the Administrative Manager in a timely manner.
Make final player placement recommendations in collaboration with the designated three-coach evaluation panel.
Ensure all lesson and program cancellation policies are understood and consistently followed to protect club and professional revenue.
Maintain accurate and timely administrative records for all assigned programs.
Establish a clear development pathway for junior players from introductory programming through high-performance and tournament-level tennis.
Conduct formal player evaluations twice annually and provide meaningful feedback to players and parents.
Establish individual goals with high-performance players and their parents and monitor progress throughout the year.
Work with coaches, players, and parents to develop an appropriate tournament schedule for each athlete.
Ensure player training plans are aligned with individual tournament schedules and competitive goals.
Coordinate coaches attending tournaments and other competitive events.
Facilitate regular match play opportunities and communicate match-play opportunities directly to players.
Maintain appropriate records of player development, tournament participation, and competitive progress.
Build a high-performance culture based on strong, professional relationships with players and parents.
Hold an annual parent welcome meeting at the beginning of the program year.
Organize an end-of-year banquet or recognition event celebrating player development and accomplishments.
Maintain consistent and professional communication with players and parents.
Communicate program updates, special events, new sessions, make-ups, cancellations, court changes, and match-play opportunities in a timely manner.
Establish clear expectations around player commitment, tournament participation, attendance, conduct, and communication.
Develop and execute an annual promotional calendar for all high-performance programming.
Ensure promotional materials, including pamphlets, flyers, brochures, and digital content, are prepared at least one month in advance.
Collaborate with the Racquets Director and appropriate club departments to ensure promotions are delivered on schedule.
Contribute content for website updates, newsletters, social media, articles, and other communications targeting high-performance players and families.
Create and execute a minimum of four social junior tennis events annually.
Identify additional opportunities to showcase the club’s high-performance pathway and attract new players.
Work with the TFA Director to ensure all licensing, staffing, safety, and operational requirements are met for on-site and off-site high-performance camps.
Design, market, and execute a robust off-site TTA Camp at Thayer Academy.
Develop and maintain standardized camp procedures, programming, staffing, registration, communication, and financial processes.
Evaluate camp performance and identify opportunities for year-over-year growth.
Recruit, schedule, coordinate, and provide leadership to coaches assigned to high-performance programs.
Develop a coaching team that values relationships, communication, accountability, and long-term player development.
Provide ongoing coaching guidance, observation, mentorship, and quality control.
Conduct regular pro trainings to ensure consistency in curriculum, coaching standards, and player experience.
Establish clear expectations for coaches regarding communication with players and parents.
Foster a collaborative team culture across the high-performance and broader tennis departments.
