About The Position

We're hiring a Junior Writer at Contrarian Thinking, the home of one of the largest business-owner audiences on the internet. Millions of people follow because we tell the truth about money, ownership, and buying + scaling businesses. Our platforms are where the message spreads. We need someone who can write a tight X post that gets engagement, turn a newsletter idea into social clips, draft a YouTube script that holds attention, and understand why certain angles resonate across different formats. You'll write on platforms most writers never touch in their first roles & you'll see real performance data immediately. You'll learn what converts, what lands, and what falls flat across every major platform. We reach 13M viewers and readers every week and we're on a fast track for growth. You'll join our content team as a junior writer, embedded under our Senior Editorial Producer, collaborating across platforms and learning the craft of business content from writers and editors who set the standard. This is a high-growth role where you'll ship work regularly, see real performance data, and iterate your way toward mastery.

Requirements

Strong writing fundamentals: clear writing, good grammar and rhythm, ability to explain complex ideas simply, and a human-like voice.
Genuine interest in business content: follow business news, understand entrepreneurship, and can explain why a trend matters to business owners.
Ability to take feedback: eager to improve, view editorial notes as helpful, and iterate without ego.
Speed and reliability: meet deadlines, draft quickly, and ship work ready for revision.
Comfort with AI tools: use AI for research, brainstorming, and first-draft generation, understanding effective prompting and when to rely on own thinking.
Willingness to learn: early in writing career, excited to develop under experienced editors, ask questions, and absorb feedback.

Published newsletter writing experience
A portfolio of 1,500+ word pieces
Familiarity with analytics and performance data
Prior editorial or content team experience

Responsibilities

Write newsletter drafts across different formats, starting with shorter newsletters (500–1,200 words) and graduating to longer formats.
Craft short-form content for social platforms, including scripts and captions for X, LinkedIn, Instagram, and TikTok.
Draft initial scripts for long-form YouTube content.
Research and pitch business trends, interview subjects, or content angles.
Participate in editorial reviews to learn how experienced writers approach problems.
Review open rates, read rates, forward data, and engagement metrics across platforms to connect writing to reader response.
