Junior Web Developer

RealWorkAustin, TX

About The Position

As a Jr. Web Developer / Website Specialist at RealWork, you'll be on the front lines of launching contractor websites built on our Duda-based template platform. This is a hands-on production role: you'll take a contractor's brand, jobs, and service mix and turn it into a fast, beautifully built, SEO- and GEO-optimized site that helps them win more work in their local market. Most of the long-form copy on these sites is generated by our AI content engine, which is fed by a structured onboarding interview and the contractor's job history. Your job isn't to write every word from scratch - it's to bring taste, judgment, and a real point of view to what ships. You'll catch what AI gets wrong, sharpen what it gets right, and make sure every page reads like it was built by someone who actually understands the contractor and their customer. This role is a great fit for someone early in their web career who has shipped real sites, has strong design instincts, cares about how pages actually rank and convert, and is excited to work inside an AI-native production workflow.

Requirements

  • 1-3 years of experience building websites in a professional or freelance capacity, with a portfolio of live sites you can point to.
  • Comfortable working in HTML and CSS - you can read it, write it, and debug it without hand-holding.
  • Experience with DNS and domain configuration. You understand A records, CNAMEs, nameservers, and TTLs, and you can confidently guide a non-technical client through updating them at their registrar.
  • Hands-on experience with at least one website builder or CMS (Duda, Webflow, Squarespace, Wix, WordPress, Framer, or similar).
  • A working understanding of SEO fundamentals: page structure, metadata, schema, content hierarchy, and how search engines interpret a page.
  • Familiarity with local SEO / GEO concepts- Google Business Profile, service-area targeting, NAP consistency, and location-specific content.
  • Genuine design sense. You don't have to be a Product Designer, but you should care about typography, spacing, hierarchy, and color, and be able to spot when something looks off.
  • A clear point of view on what makes website copy good. You can tell when something reads as generic, off-brand, or low-trust, and you know how to fix it.
  • Detail-oriented and self-managing. You can own a launch checklist, hit a deadline, and not let things slip through the cracks.

Nice To Haves

  • Have worked with home services, trades, or other local-service businesses and understand how they get found and chosen online.
  • Are comfortable using AI tools (Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor, etc.) as part of your daily workflow - not just as a novelty.
  • Have shipped sites with structured data / schema markup and can speak to why it matters.
  • Have basic JavaScript chops or experience with embeds, third-party scripts, and tracking pixels (GA4, GTM, conversion tracking).
  • Have done any of: copywriting, content editing, photography selection/curation, or brand work.
  • Are comfortable giving and receiving direct feedback on craft - your work and other people's.
  • Read every bullet in a list like this one.

Responsibilities

  • Build and launch contractor websites on the RealWork template, configuring layouts, modules, and content for each new customer.
  • Work inside our AI content pipeline - reviewing, and editing generated page copy so every site has a clear voice and a real point of view.
  • Handle light HTML/CSS customization within the web builder (and occasionally outside of it) to deliver a polished, on-brand result.
  • Ensure the application of SEO and GEO best practices on every site: page structure, metadata, schema, internal linking, service-area pages, and Google Business Profile alignment.
  • Bring design judgment to typography, layout, imagery, and overall visual polish—making sure each launched site looks like our best work, not a templated default.
  • Partner with the Activation and Customer Success teams to translate onboarding inputs (interviews, brand assets, job data) into a launched site on schedule.
  • QA every site before launch—across desktop and mobile—for performance, accessibility, broken links, and content accuracy.
  • Help us improve the template itself: surface patterns, friction points, and opportunities to make the next launch faster and better than the last.

Benefits

  • Competitive salary, bonus structure & equity
  • Excellent Health, Dental, Vision and Parental Benefits
  • Regular team outings & events
  • Flexible PTO
  • 401(k)
