About The Position

Acrisure is a global fintech leader that empowers businesses and individuals with customized solutions across insurance, reinsurance, payroll, benefits, cybersecurity, mortgage services, and more. Appalachian Underwriters, Inc., part of Acrisure, is seeking an Underwriter to work directly with carrier partners to shop, approve risks, and underwrite new and renewal policies. This role involves partnering with agents and carriers to find the best product for the end customer's needs.

Requirements

Prior experience with Commercial Underwriting.
Prior experience with a carrier or MGA highly preferred.
Highly organized
Excellent time management
Teamwork because you will be working with multiple people within the Commercial Specialty department including senior management and Underwriting Assistants across multiple offices.
Property & Casualty license required or ability to obtain within 90 days of hire.

Responsibilities

Maintain knowledge of the company’s strategic direction and plan, including goals and objectives to achieve profit and growth.
Review insurance policy submissions and determine ability to underwrite, underwrite and price new and renewal business, and present quotes to the agent.
Develop strong customer service skills (consistency, quick response, knowledge of products).
Use independent judgment and initiative to support business goals.
Approve risk based on company and carrier specifications.
Shop policies between carriers to find the best coverage.
