About The Position

Pickle Robot is developing Physical AI systems to automate global supply chains. Its robots unload trucks and containers, with future plans to support truck loading and broader logistics autonomy. The Junior Systems Engineer will help define what the robotic unloading systems must do and verify that they meet those expectations. The role focuses on writing and maintaining system requirements, tracing requirements from product needs through testing, and helping create design documents and interface definitions shared across hardware and software teams. The engineer will collaborate with Product, Engineering, and System Verification and Test, and spend time with the robots to ensure requirements reflect actual system behavior. Work will be tested on robots in the company warehouse and at customer sites. This position is intended for someone early in their career who values structured engineering and wants to learn how mechanical, electrical, software, and test components come together in a complex robot. The position is expected to be onsite at least three days per week at the company's Charlestown, Massachusetts offices.

Requirements

  • Typically 0–3 years of experience in systems engineering, robotics, or a related engineering role; new graduates are welcome.

  • Strong ownership and ability to see problems through to completion.
  • Precise technical writing skills, including the ability to turn ambiguous needs into requirements that can be built and tested.
  • Organization and attention to detail, with comfort maintaining a large body of consistent, up-to-date requirements.
  • Curiosity about interactions among mechanical, electrical, and software subsystems, and willingness to investigate their details.
  • Clear communication and ability to work with cross-functional teams and contribute to design reviews.
  • A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Systems Engineering is preferred; degrees in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Robotics, Computer Science, or a related field will be considered alongside relevant systems engineering experience.
  • Expected onsite presence at least three days per week at the Charlestown, MA offices.
