About The Position

OSS is seeking a Junior Systems Engineer to support a Department of Defense customer at Redstone Arsenal in Huntsville, Alabama. This position provides an excellent opportunity for an early-career engineer to support cutting-edge Army Aviation and Launched Effects programs while working alongside experienced government and industry professionals. The selected candidate will assist with systems engineering, integration, testing, analysis, and acquisition activities supporting the development and fielding of advanced aviation and autonomous systems capabilities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Systems Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related technical discipline.
  • U.S. Citizenship required.
  • Active Secret Security Clearance required or ability to obtain and maintain a Secret Security Clearance.
  • 1-5 years of relevant engineering experience.
  • Understanding of engineering principles and system development processes.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work within a multidisciplinary team environment.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience through internships, co-ops, military service, university research, or engineering projects supporting aviation, aerospace, robotics, autonomy, or defense systems.
  • Familiarity with systems engineering processes and requirements management.
  • Knowledge of Uncrewed Aircraft Systems (UAS) or aviation systems.
  • Familiarity with MBSE, digital engineering, or systems integration concepts.
  • Experience with Microsoft Project, JIRA, or related tools.
  • Prior military service or support of Department of Defense programs.
  • Active Secret Security Clearance preferred. Candidates with the ability to obtain and maintain a Secret Security Clearance will also be considered.

Responsibilities

  • Support systems engineering activities throughout the system lifecycle, including requirements analysis, design reviews, integration, testing, fielding, and sustainment.
  • Assist with the development and review of engineering documentation, technical reports, requirements packages, test plans, and program briefings.
  • Participate in Integrated Product Teams (IPTs), technical interchange meetings, and engineering working groups.
  • Support system integration, prototype development, demonstrations, and test activities.
  • Analyze technical data and assist in identifying system performance issues, risks, and potential solutions.
  • Coordinate engineering activities with government personnel, contractors, and other stakeholders.
  • Assist with verification, validation, and testing efforts to ensure system requirements are met.
  • Support acquisition and modernization initiatives related to Army Aviation and Launched Effects programs.
  • Research emerging technologies and provide technical recommendations to support future capabilities.
  • Perform other engineering and program support duties as assigned.
