Junior Systems Administrator
About The Position
We are seeking a motivated Junior Systems Administrator to join our infrastructure team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to grow their career in systems administration while gaining hands-on experience supporting enterprise server, virtualization, and network environments. The ideal candidate will have experience with Active Directory, Windows Server administration, VMware or Hyper-V, and basic networking concepts such as DNS and DHCP. We are looking for someone who is eager to learn, enjoys troubleshooting technical issues, and thrives in a collaborative team environment.
Requirements
- 1-3 years of experience supporting IT infrastructure, systems administration, or technical operations
- Experience with Active Directory user and group management
- Basic understanding of Group Policy
- Experience supporting Windows Server environments
- Exposure to VMware vSphere and/or Hyper-V
- Understanding of networking fundamentals, including: TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, Network troubleshooting
- Experience with backup and recovery processes
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication and documentation abilities
- Ability to work onsite five days per week
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds when assisting with infrastructure deployments
Nice To Haves
- Experience with PowerShell scripting
- Exposure to monitoring tools and system health dashboards
- Knowledge of DFS and certificate services
- Experience working with backup solutions such as Veeam, Commvault, Rubrik, or similar platforms
- Cloud exposure (Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud)
- IT certifications such as CompTIA Network+, Server+, Microsoft, VMware, or equivalent
- Strong desire to learn and grow within infrastructure and systems administration
- Self-motivated and proactive mindset
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment
- Passion for technology and troubleshooting complex issues
Responsibilities
- Support the administration and maintenance of Windows Server environments
- Create, modify, and manage user accounts, groups, and permissions within Active Directory
- Assist with Group Policy administration and troubleshooting
- Support virtualized infrastructure utilizing VMware and/or Hyper-V
- Perform system patching and routine maintenance activities
- Monitor and verify backup jobs and assist with disaster recovery testing
- Support core infrastructure services including DNS, DHCP, DFS, and certificate services
- Troubleshoot server, network, and connectivity issues
- Assist with the deployment and setup of infrastructure equipment, including switches and access points
- Monitor system and network health using various monitoring tools
- Maintain accurate technical documentation, SOPs, and infrastructure records
- Manage incidents, service requests, and asset tracking through ticketing systems
- Participate in team projects and infrastructure initiatives
- Provide occasional onsite support at remote locations
- Participate in after-hours maintenance activities and on-call rotations as needed
