About The Position

fusionSpan is a dynamic, fast-paced hybrid and remote work environment that prioritizes innovation, trust, and community in everything we do. We are a team of highly-committed individuals inspired by technology's impact on society, and we recognize our work's role in the well-being of our nonprofit clients and the communities they serve. As an AI-first organization, we keep our eyes tuned to the horizon, finding new ways to leverage cutting-edge technologies in ways that drive improvements in operational efficiency and impact, both for our clients and for our internal team. This is an early-career position designed for a high-potential individual who is eager to manage and evolve the backbone of our business operations. In this role, you will sit at the intersection of cloud infrastructure and software integration. You will be responsible for the health, security, and connectivity of our core platforms, ensuring that data flows cleanly across our ecosystem. This is a technical role and it requires real technical ability. You need to be able to read and write code, reason about how systems talk to each other, and work confidently in a command line, a log file, and an API. Prior experience in Salesforce, AWS, or other specific platforms is not required as those are learnable. If you have a solid technical foundation and a track record of picking up unfamiliar systems quickly, you should apply.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science (preferred), Information Technology, Management Information Systems (MIS), or a related technical field.
  • Working proficiency in at least one scripting or programming language (JavaScript preferred, Python or similar accepted).
  • Ability to write a script that calls an API, parses the response, and handles an error, and ability to read code written by others.
  • Solid understanding of API architecture: what REST and SOAP are, how authentication works, what a payload looks like, and how two systems exchange data.
  • Comfort working in a technical environment: command line, log files, stack traces, and vendor documentation.
  • Foundational understanding of core IT and cloud concepts such as networking basics, user access and permissions models, and security practices.
  • Demonstrated ability to investigate a problem you have never seen before and work it to a conclusion, rather than escalating at the first dead end.
  • Strong instincts for requirements gathering: ask clarifying questions early and be comfortable pushing back when a request does not make sense.
  • Proven ability to learn unfamiliar systems quickly and independently.
  • Ownership: follow through on tasks and speak up when something is going sideways.
  • Exceptional communication skills with the ability to manage expectations for both internal stakeholders and clients.
  • Ability to prioritize in a fast-paced environment.

Nice To Haves

  • Professional IT experience, internships, help desk or support work, and personal development projects are highly valued.
  • Direct exposure to the Salesforce ecosystem, the AWS Management Console, or API testing tools is a plus and will shorten your ramp.

Responsibilities

  • Investigate ambiguous requests and unclear symptoms, trace them back to root cause, and explain findings in plain language.
  • Sit with stakeholders across the business, ask clarifying questions to understand their needs, and translate them into clear requirements.
  • Evaluate options, weigh tradeoffs, recommend an approach, and then build, test, and implement the solution.
  • Maintain clear, up-to-date technical documentation for system architecture, integration mappings, and workflow logic.
  • Act as a junior admin for the Salesforce environment, managing user permissions, configuration changes, and custom object maintenance.
  • Assist in the administration of Amazon Web Services (AWS) infrastructure, ensuring cloud services are secure, patched, and performing optimally.
  • Implement and monitor security best practices across all managed platforms to safeguard company and client data.
  • Work directly with REST/SOAP APIs to maintain and troubleshoot integrations between diverse software platforms.
  • Manage the connective tissue between Salesforce and core tools: Slack, BambooHR, and QuickBooks.
  • Write logic and scripts that automate manual workflows and improve data synchronization.
  • Identify and resolve integration failures or API bottlenecks to ensure high system availability.
  • Act as a technical bridge between internal teams and external clients, translating business requirements into technical solutions.
  • Manage a diverse queue of technical tasks, balancing immediate support needs with long-term infrastructure projects.
