About The Position

Running Aces is seeking a motivated early-career IT professional to join our team as a Junior Systems Administrator. This role offers hands-on experience supporting and maintaining daily IT operations within a structured environment while working directly under the guidance of the IT Manager. The Junior Systems Administrator will focus on technical support, system maintenance, documentation, and skill development while gaining exposure to systems administration best practices. This position is ideal for someone looking to grow their IT career and build a strong foundation in infrastructure and support operations. With demonstrated performance, continued skill development, and business need, this role has the opportunity to progress into higher-level Systems Administrator positions over time.

Requirements

  • Associate degree in Information Technology or equivalent work experience.
  • Zero to two years of experience in an IT support role such as helpdesk, desktop support, or MSP support.
  • Familiarity with Windows operating systems, Microsoft 365, Active Directory, and user account management.
  • Strong customer service, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Willingness to learn, grow, and work under direct supervision.
  • Must possess the ability to obtain and maintain a Minnesota Racing Commission gaming license.

Nice To Haves

  • Entry-level IT certifications such as CompTIA A+, Network+, or similar.
  • Experience with ticketing/IT service management systems and basic PowerShell scripting or automation concepts.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with user account provisioning, access management, and password resets through Active Directory and Microsoft 365.
  • Provide Tier 2 technical support for desktop, application, hardware, and basic system issues.
  • Perform routine system maintenance, system checks, patching support, and backup verification.
  • Monitor system alerts and coordinate escalations with the IT Manager or Managed Service Provider (MSP) when needed.
  • Support hardware setup, deployment, replacement activities, and IT asset tracking.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of procedures, recurring issues, resolutions, and system updates.
  • Participate in the on-call IT support rotation, including evenings, overnight hours, weekends, and holidays, while performing additional duties as assigned.
