We are searching for a skilled, energetic, and focused Systems Administrator. We are seeking a Systems Administrator with strong Linux fundamentals who brings a modern, automation-first mindset to support a Government client. This role is responsible for maintaining and supporting production systems while leveraging containerization and infrastructure-as-code practices to improve reliability, scalability, and operational efficiency. This is a hands-on role for someone who can both keep systems running and continuously improve how they are managed through automation and tooling.

Requirements

  • Experience working in heavily regulated environments.
  • 3 - 7+ years of experience as a Linux Systems Administrator.
  • Strong experience with Linux system administration (RHEL, Ubuntu, or similar).
  • Hands-on experience with containerization using Docker or Podman.
  • Experience with automation tools such as Ansible.
  • Proficiency in scripting (Bash and/or Python).
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen.

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines (GitLab CI, GitHub Actions, Jenkins, etc.).
  • Experience with SELinux, system hardening, and security best practices.
  • Experience managing internal certificate authorities and trust chains.
  • Familiarity with monitoring and observability tools (Grafana, ELK, Datadog, etc.).
  • Experience supporting both operations (O&M) and development (modernization) efforts.
  • Solid understanding of networking fundamentals, including experience with Docker networking.

Responsibilities

  • Administer, maintain, and troubleshoot Linux-based systems in production environments.
  • Deploy, manage, and support containerized applications using Docker and/or Podman.
  • Support container orchestration platforms such as Docker Compose (deployment, troubleshooting, and operations).
  • Automate system configuration and provisioning using Ansible.
  • Develop and maintain scripts (Bash, Python) to automate routine operational tasks.
  • Monitor system health, troubleshoot issues, and resolve incidents across infrastructure and application layers.
  • Maintain system security, including patching, access controls, and certificate management.
  • Provide support for Java applications using the Spring framework running on Tomcat with Nginx.
  • Document system configurations, processes, and troubleshooting procedures.
