About The Position
The Greater Philadelphia YMCA is seeking a Junior Summer Camp Counselor to join their team. This role involves positively impacting the summer camp community by helping children reach their potential, enacting age-appropriate goals, and changing lives within the Y community.
Requirements
- At least 16 years old
- High school graduate or equivalent
- Or enrolled in a minimum of 2 years of child development coursework approved by state licensing requirements.
- Enthusiasm, sense of humor, patience and experience working with children.
Responsibilities
- Assist Senior Counselors in supervising campers and activity implementation.
- Assist in ensuring all campers can participate in all activities, no matter varied abilities whether physical, or intellectual. Actively participate in activities to encourage participation.
- Assist in ensuring appropriate behavior of campers and staff to avoid the risk of accidents.
- Assist in maintaining effective communication with parents/guardians regarding camper and camp activities.
