About The Position

GFT is seeking a Site/Civil Designer/Engineer to support a variety of projects in the Mid-Atlantic region. This role follows a hybrid work model, requiring regular attendance at Mechanicsburg, PA office. GFT is seeking a Site/Civil Designer/Engineer for our site development practice within the buildings & places business group. The position offers the opportunity to participate in project teams for the planning, design, and construction administration of public and private projects. Clients and projects may be in various locations typicvally in the northeast region. Candidate must have the flexibility to travel within the region periodically to help serve GFT’s client base. This role supports a hybrid work model, requiring regular attendance at our Mechanicsburg, PA office This is an excellent career opportunity for an experienced, motivated Site/Civil Design Engineer who thrives in a collaborative team environment. In this capacity, the successful candidate will be responsible for the following: Responsibilities include production of engineering and design deliverable in accordance with GFT procedures and standards for projects across the business line. This will involve collaborating with PMs and Senior Site/Civil Engineers to deliver successful projects to a variety of GFT clients.

Requirements

  • BS in Civil Engineering (MS is a plus)
  • E.I.T required.
  • 0-2 years of site/civil experience required including a thorough knowledge of the requirements of local, State and Federal agencies having site plan approval jurisdiction.
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD and Civil 3D.
  • Proficient in MS Office Products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Demonstrated interest in civil site design or land development engineering through applied coursework, internships, or related experiences.
  • Excellent communication, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently or collaboratively on a team.
  • Actively engages multiple perspectives when solving problems, seeks to learn from peers, and encourages reciprocal learning among team members.

Responsibilities

  • Understanding and applying agency design standards in the design of civil infrastructure.
  • Using hydrologic and hydraulic programs in the analysis of storm water. Modeling water and wastewater systems (using WaterCAD and SewerCAD). Preparing roadway design (using Civil 3D).
  • Writing Basis of Design or other reports related to Stormwater, Drainage, Erosion and Sedimentation Control and/or Water and Wastewater Utility Improvements.
  • Coordinating with other disciplines in the development of construction drawings and specifications.
  • Prepare stormwater management reports and NPDES permit applications for post development stormwater discharge permits.
