About The Position

Southeastern Louisiana University's Department of TRIO-Student Support Services invites applications for the position of Junior/Senior Student Advisor. Applicants should be a dedicated and student-focused professional with strong communication, organization, and interpersonal skills. Experienced in supporting students with academic planning, goal setting, problem-solving, and navigating educational resources. Committed to building positive relationships with students and providing guidance that promotes academic success, personal growth, and retention.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited university (preferably in Education, Counseling, Social work, or Psychology)
• Two (2) year's work experience
• Minimum one (1) year working with students in a postsecondary setting

Nice To Haves

• Effective interpersonal skills that will allow the applicant to relate to the complex educational and personal needs of low-income, first generation participants and student with disabilities
• Applicants whose backgrounds are similar to students served is preferred
• Demonstrated ability to work successfully with low income, first generation participants and students with disabilities in postsecondary environments.
• Ability to use computer-based technology to complete tasks.
• Ability to plan, create, publish and share content on social media.
