About The Position

Under basic supervision, oversees and leads a variety of recreation programs and events; performs a variety of tasks in support of the assigned area and program. This is a seasonal position from June 1st - August 21st. The job description is subject to change at any time by the employer. Essential duties and responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following: Supervises and leads day-to-day operations of assigned recreation programs and activities; assembles necessary supplies for each activity. May take attendance for assigned group and records names of participants who are not in attendance; calls participants or parents to verify absences as necessary. Oversees, leads, and assists with various activities; observes participants during program; enforces rules and safety procedures; implements disciplinary actions as necessary. Participates in facility or venue set-up, clean-up, and sanitation. Supports the relationship between the Teton County staff and the general public by demonstrating courteous and cooperative behavior when interacting with visitors and County staff; maintains confidentiality of work-related issues and County information; performs other duties as required or assigned. Junior Recreation Leader will specifically: Work with a group of campers to provide a safe, fun, exciting camp experience. Be responsive to campers’ needs and act as a positive role model. Assist in daily set up and clean up each day, including preparing supplies, snack, etc. Maintaining constant supervision of campers, enforcing all safety regulations, and following emergency procedures Participate actively and enthusiastically in all camp activities, staff meetings and training sessions. Planning, leading, and implementing age-appropriate, engaging, and safe activities, such as arts and crafts, sports, or nature hikes. Comfortable working outdoors and supervising children in or around a pool like setting or large bodies of water & swimming.

Requirements

  • Some high school
  • Up to 1 year of experience in recreation programs or working with children
  • CPR and First Aid Certification or ability to earn these certifications
  • Knowledge of recreation site safety rules and regulations
  • Knowledge of methods of program planning and implementation
  • Knowledge of principles, practices, and methods of conflict resolution and problem solving
  • Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with coworkers and other individuals
  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely
  • Ability to assess, prioritize, and complete multiple tasks and demands simultaneously
  • Ability to administer basic first aid
  • Required to work routine nights and weekends as regular schedule
  • Required to work unsupervised in the presence of children or vulnerable adults
