About The Position

CGI Federal is seeking a Junior Project Manager to support the planning, coordination, and execution of technical projects within a Next Generation Command and Control (NGC2) program for the US Army. This role works closely with government personnel, engineers, logistics teams, and internal leadership to ensure project activities meet technical objectives, schedule requirements, and quality standards. The Junior Project Manager assists in conducting feasibility studies, evaluating costs, managing resources, interpreting technical requirements, and overseeing project activities across hardware and software development environments. This position is ideal for an early career project leader seeking to expand experience in defense modernization and technical project execution. This position is located in Huntsville, AL.

Requirements

  • BA/BS degree from an accredited college or university in Business, Accounting, Program Management, Operations Management, Engineering, or related field
  • 5+ years of progressive experience managing technical projects in a military hardware or software development environment
  • Experience supporting planning, scheduling, and execution of technical project activities
  • Experience working with government stakeholders or supporting defense programs
  • Understanding of project management principles, scheduling, and cost estimation
  • Ability to interpret technical requirements for hardware, software, or integrated systems
  • Familiarity with logistics support analysis and/or system safety fundamentals
  • Proficiency with project management tools (MS Project, Primavera, Jira, or equivalent)
  • Strong organizational, communication, and coordination skills
  • Ability to support multiple tasks simultaneously in a fast paced environment
  • Strong analytical and problem solving abilities
  • Ability to work collaboratively with engineers, logisticians, and government personnel

Nice To Haves

  • MA/MS/MBA + PMP certification may substitute for 2 years of required experience
  • Five additional years of relevant experience may substitute for the degree requirement
  • Experience supporting Defense acquisition programs or modernization efforts
  • Familiarity with earned value management (EVM) or government reporting requirements
  • Experience with requirements management tools (DOORS, Jama, etc.)
  • Familiarity with risk management, configuration management, or QA systems
  • PMP certification (if not already used as a substitution)
  • DAWIA Program Management coursework or certification
  • Agile/Scrum certification
  • Ability to draft technical briefs, project summaries, or white papers
  • Experience supporting test events, fielding activities, or engineering reviews
  • Strong capability for tracking actions, risks, and resource allocations

Responsibilities

  • Organize, direct, and coordinate planning and implementation of technical projects
  • Support creation of project schedules, task assignments, and resource plans
  • Ensure project activities conform to established work standards and program guidelines
  • Interface with government personnel to support project reviews, updates, and requirements discussions
  • Support integrated product teams (IPTs) and cross functional coordination efforts
  • Communicate project progress, risks, and needs to leadership
  • Assist in formulating and reviewing feasibility studies for project activities
  • Support cost estimation efforts and analysis of alternatives
  • Evaluate technical solutions based on efficiency, feasibility, and mission benefit
  • Interpret technical requirements and translate them into actionable project tasks
  • Coordinate with engineering teams to ensure technical alignment
  • Support technical documentation reviews and requirement traceability
  • Manage logistics support analysis activities for military systems
  • Support systems safety studies, reviews, and documentation
  • Contribute to sustainment planning and readiness considerations
  • Coordinate identification, acquisition, and allocation of resources needed to achieve project objectives
  • Support evaluation of vendor or subcontractor capabilities, where applicable
  • Track resource usage and support cost control activities
  • Prepare project documentation, status reports, action items, and briefings
  • Track project metrics, deliverables, and risk items
  • Support development of presentations for internal leadership and government customers
