NV5 is seeking a motivated individual to join our multi-disciplinary Planning department at our office in Morristown, NJ. This entry-level Planner position offers an opportunity to collaborate on projects related to Safe Schools For All (SS4A), Complete Streets, Vision Zero, transit access, greenways, streetscapes, park design, and community placemaking for municipalities, regional organizations, and state agencies throughout the northeast. Our team is passionate about planning and designing systems and places that encourage healthy lifestyles and community vitality. Our focus on walking, bicycling, transit, trails, greenways, and parks is an integral part of our overall planning, landscape architecture, and engineering practice.

Requirements

  • Completion of (or on course to complete) a graduate degree in planning, landscape architecture, engineering, or a related field
  • Strong communications skills, and excellent writing and graphics capabilities
  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop), Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), ArcGIS, AutoCAD, or other industry software
  • Collaborative spirit
  • Ability to succeed in a hybrid work environment (combination of remote, in-office, and in-the-field work)
  • Municipal planning principals
  • CEQA principals
  • Site planning and architectural design principles
  • Principles and practices of urban planning and development
  • Planning terminology, methods, materials, practices, and techniques

Nice To Haves

  • Second language skills a plus

Responsibilities

  • GIS mapping and analysis
  • Active Transportation/Bicycle/Pedestrian Master Plans, and route and facility planning
  • Vision Zero Plans, safety assessments and road safety audits
  • Production of project deliverables (data collection, writing, editing, research, graphic development)
  • Conceptual design, graphics, and renderings
  • Public outreach (participation in virtual and in-person meetings, development of outreach materials such as input boards and surveys)
  • Attendance for in-office activities, public outreach events, and field trips as needed
