About The Position

Performs various manufacturing operations on jobs, including the manufacturing of sub-assemblies and final assembly. Operates various types of equipment such as saws, drills, punches, grinders, formers, packing machines, material moving equipment, and any other equipment in an assigned designated area. This role requires adherence to safety guidelines, including hazardous material and waste handling, and a commitment to quality control.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) and up to twelve months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Must receive training with respect to guidelines for hazardous material and waste handling within six (6) months of hire and annually thereafter.
  • Regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls; and reach with hands and arms.
  • Frequently required to stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl and talk or hear.
  • Continuously (over 70% of time) lift and/or move over 25 pounds and occasionally up to 60 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required: close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Ability to perform required equipment safety inspections.
  • Ability to adjust and operate saw equipment.
  • Ability to use shop equipment such as table saw, hand drill or drill press, punch and die press, fixed router, nut drivers and heat forming equipment.
  • Ability to perform assembly using designated materials and parts.
  • Ability to follow established procedures and operations to assemble products.
  • Ability to perform manufacture or make up of sub-assemblies for stock.
  • Ability to load and unload materials using required equipment.
  • Ability to convey material from storage or work sites to designated areas.
  • Ability to attach identifying marks, labels and tags to material, cases, cartons and other containers.
  • Ability to ensure hazardous material and waste handling is conducted within guidelines.
  • Ability to perform on-going quality control of own work.
  • Ability to maintain work area, equipment and supplies in a neat and orderly condition.
  • Ability to complete work with minimal supervision.
  • May be required to use personal fall protection equipment in certain situations.

Responsibilities

  • Performs various manufacturing operations on jobs, including sub-assemblies and final assembly.
  • Operates various types of equipment such as saws, drills, punches, grinders, formers, packing machines, and material moving equipment.
  • Adjusts and operates saw equipment to cut extruded stock, metal, and plastic to specified sizes.
  • Performs assembly using materials and parts designated by work orders, production sheets, drawings, or catalog specifications.
  • Loads and unloads materials onto pallets, tables, racks, and shelving using equipment like pallet movers, carts, basket movers, and hand trucks.
  • Conveys material from storage or work sites to designated areas.
  • Attaches identifying marks, labels, and tags to material, cases, cartons, and other containers.
  • Ensures hazardous material and waste handling is conducted within the guidelines of all training and safety programs.
  • Performs on-going quality control of own work, such as verifying correct color, size, shape, and measurements.
  • Maintains work area, equipment, and supplies in a neat and orderly condition.
  • Assists in filling pull lists and work orders for the assigned production area.
  • Assists in helping all areas of production as needed and assigned by supervisor.
  • Follows directions to perform other company-related work when time permits or when directed.
  • Ensures conformance to all aspects of the ISO 14001 standard and Construction Specialties’ Environmental Management System (EMS), including its environmental policy.
