About The Position

Acture Solutions is looking for a motivated and service-minded Junior Network Systems Engineer to join our on-site support team at the Shoreham Wading River School District. In this role, you will support and help maintain the district’s network, server, and systems infrastructure to ensure reliable, secure, and high-performance operations across school buildings and administrative facilities. Requirements

  • 3+ years of desktop support experience
  • 3–5 years of experience or exposure to networking and systems administration
  • Foundational knowledge of Windows Server, Active Directory, and networking concepts
  • Experience with or exposure to virtualized environments (VMware, Hyper-V, or similar)
  • Strong interest in growing into a network and systems engineering role
  • Understanding of LAN/WAN design, routing, switching, and firewall fundamentals
  • Familiarity with VLANs, VPNs, and wireless network administration
  • Knowledge of Windows Server environments and Active Directory
  • Exposure to Microsoft 365 and cloud identity management (Entra ID/Azure AD)
  • Basic understanding of backup, disaster recovery, and cybersecurity practices
  • Experience supporting endpoint devices and enterprise IT environments
  • Customer-first mindset with strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
  • Organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple priorities
  • Willingness to learn and grow in a fast-paced technical environment
  • Valid driver’s license and fingerprinting required

Responsibilities

  • Assist with the design, configuration, and maintenance of LAN/WAN networks, including switching, routing, firewalls, and wireless infrastructure
  • Support and optimize Wi-Fi networks to meet the demands of high-density classroom and administrative environments
  • Assist with deployment and maintenance of physical and virtual servers using platforms such as VMware vSphere, Hyper-V, or similar technologies
  • Administer and support Active Directory environments, including user accounts, group policies, and domain services
  • Assist with Microsoft Entra ID (Azure AD) and Microsoft 365 administration including Exchange Online, Teams, and licensing
  • Support network services including DNS, DHCP, certificate services, and patch management
  • Help manage MDM platforms for district-owned devices (Intune, Jamf, or Google Admin)
  • Assist with backup operations, disaster recovery processes, and business continuity planning
  • Support network and systems security efforts including VLANs, VPNs, MFA, and content filtering in alignment with CIPA and FERPA
  • Provide support for physical security systems including CCTV, door access, and visitor management systems
  • Serve as an escalation point for more complex helpdesk issues, working closely with senior engineers
  • Document network configurations, system changes, and technical procedures
  • Participate in infrastructure projects including upgrades, deployments, and system improvements
  • Utilize PSA tools (such as Autotask) to track and document work
