About The Position

The Junior MES Engineer supports the development, implementation, and maintenance of Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES) used throughout manufacturing operations. This position assists with requirements gathering, system design, configuration, testing, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement of MES applications and related manufacturing technologies. Working under the guidance of experienced engineering and technical team members, the Junior MES Engineer supports PLC and HMI integration, machine data collection, data visualization, database applications, reporting, and communication between manufacturing systems and ERP platforms. This role works closely with Engineering, Production, Maintenance, IT, and other departments to improve system reliability, manufacturing visibility, and operational efficiency.

Requirements

  • Associate degree in Electronics Engineering Technology, Computer Science, Information Technology, Automation, or a related technical field required
  • Entry-level candidates with relevant education, internships, co-op experience, technical training, or hands-on manufacturing technology experience will be considered.
  • Experience or coursework involving manufacturing systems, automation, programming, databases, or industrial controls preferred.
  • Basic understanding of Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES) and manufacturing technology concepts.
  • Knowledge or exposure to automated data collection, SCADA systems, manufacturing data visualization, historian applications, workflow systems, production scheduling, quality systems, and ERP integration preferred.
  • Working knowledge or exposure to Allen-Bradley PLCs and HMIs preferred.
  • Knowledge of SQL programming and relational databases preferred.
  • Programming or software development experience using Microsoft Visual Studio and C# is a plus.
  • Basic understanding of industrial networks and communication between manufacturing equipment and information systems preferred.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to read and understand technical documentation, process flows, system specifications, and manufacturing procedures.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a cross-functional team.
  • Ability and willingness to learn new manufacturing technologies, software applications, programming languages, and automation systems.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple assignments and priorities.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with gathering and analyzing business and technical requirements for MES projects, system enhancements, and manufacturing process improvements.
  • Support the design, development, configuration, testing, implementation, and maintenance of MES applications and solutions used in tire manufacturing operations.
  • Assist with defining MES system architecture and developing technical and functional design specifications.
  • Work with manufacturing and engineering teams to understand production processes and translate operational requirements into MES system solutions.
  • Support PLC and HMI integration, machine connectivity, automated data collection, and communication between manufacturing equipment and MES applications.
  • Troubleshoot data collection, system integration, network communication, PLC, HMI, database, and MES-related issues.
  • Assist with developing and maintaining manufacturing dashboards, reports, data visualization tools, and system interfaces.
  • Support SQL databases, queries, stored data, and reporting applications used within manufacturing systems.
  • Assist with the integration of MES applications with ERP systems and other business or manufacturing applications.
  • Participate in workflow analysis, process mapping, gap analysis, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Create and maintain technical documentation, system specifications, process flows, testing documentation, and user instructions.
  • Participate as a member of technical project teams and maintain effective working relationships with Engineering, Production, Maintenance, IT, vendors, and other stakeholders.
  • Monitor assigned project activities and communicate progress, issues, risks, and system concerns to appropriate team members and management.
  • Participate in system testing, troubleshooting, upgrades, implementations, and production support activities.
  • Assist with identifying opportunities to improve manufacturing efficiency, data accuracy, system reliability, and automation through MES technologies.
  • Follow company safety policies, procedures, and information technology standards while working in manufacturing and office environments.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
