About The Position

AtkinsRéalis is seeking qualified Junior Mechanical CAD designers to support engineering roles for nuclear projects. This role involves working on fast-paced, technically complex projects in the Nuclear industries, preparing, designing, modifying, coordinating, and reviewing various engineering documents and models. The position requires adherence to client-specific file management systems and quality assurance programs, application of relevant codes and standards, and collaboration with engineering teams throughout the design lifecycle.

Requirements

  • College diploma or equivalent work experience with a minimum of 0-2 years in mechanical/piping design and drafting.
  • Ability to take marked up engineering drawings and incorporates changes into AutoCAD files.
  • Basic academic knowledge of 2D and 3D CAD applications.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to work with staff in a team environment as well as independently.
  • Must be “Team” oriented with a demonstrated ability to work well with other and promote a positive work environment.

Nice To Haves

  • Continue to learn the fundamentals of CAD techniques through job experience, coaching and training in order to reach a higher competency level.
  • ASME Code knowledge considered an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare electronic documents in AutoCAD and/or Microstation; Sketching, and three-dimensional computer modeling.
  • Follow client driven file management system for document storage.
  • Prepare engineering deliverables for both nuclear and conventional systems in accordance with AtkinsRéalis Nuclear Inc./Candu Energy Quality Assurance Programs and project requirements.
  • Apply relevant Codes & Standards and regulatory requirements and coordinate with design team to ensure the compliances.
  • Interface with Engineering teams, throughout the lifecycle of the design project (i.e., from preliminary and conceptual engineering to detailed design, implementation and close-out) to provide practical and effective solutions as per requirements.
  • Revise existing drawings/3D models (relative to the discipline) from fairly detailed verbal or written instructions, and/or marked up drawings.
  • Prepare drawings/3D models (relative to the discipline) of minimal complexity.
  • Implement any necessary design changes, calculations and materials selection - with assistance from more senior staff.
  • Ensure CAD file configuration management and storage are as per procedure.
