About The Position

Algoma Power Inc. (API) is looking for a motivated self-starter who has a positive attitude and the ability to work as part of a dynamic Enterprise Technology team. Reporting to the Senior Enterprise Infrastructure & Security Advisor, the Junior IT Technician will assist with the evolving needs of the Enterprise Infrastructure and Security division. The Junior IT Technician will be responsible for providing hardware and software installation, configuration, maintenance and upgrades of corporate technologies. Duties also include upholding security/data protection, business continuity, and providing Helpdesk support in line with corporate standards and best practices.

Requirements

  • Diploma or degree in a relevant Computer Science program, with 1–3 years of experience in IT support.
  • Knowledge of server/storage/telecommunication methodologies, networking protocols and devices, and cyber security mitigation.
  • Clear verbal and written communication skills as well as strong analytical, customer service and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work as a team member and independently on assigned projects.
  • Valid class “G” Ontario driver’s license with a clean driver’s abstract.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge and experience in working with the Microsoft Office suite would be an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with the monitoring, maintenance, and reporting of IT/OT cybersecurity and security solutions in accordance with established policies and procedures.
  • Support the installation, configuration, maintenance, and troubleshooting of LAN/WAN networking equipment, servers, storage platforms, and telecommunications systems.
  • Help monitor and maintain physical and logical security controls, data protection measures, and corporate backups; assist with security audits, risk identification, and remediation activities.
  • Assist with providing support for business continuity and disaster recovery activities, including documentation and testing exercises.
  • Assist with IT projects and corporate initiatives such as system integrations, process improvements, and infrastructure upgrades.
  • Support procurement activities by assisting with equipment deployment, vendor coordination, and budget preparation.
  • Create and maintain technical documentation, including system configurations, network diagrams, procedures, and service desk records.
  • Deliver front-line helpdesk support by receiving, prioritizing, documenting, and resolving end-user requests through hands-on or remote assistance.
  • Assist with the support and maintenance of end‑user computing assets and associated technologies used for daily business operations.
  • Support other IT team members as required and ensure adherence to corporate IT policies, confidentiality standards, and security requirements.
