About The Position

The Junior High Head Volleyball Coach is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the junior high school volleyball program, including planning and conducting practices, managing games and tournaments, developing athletes' skills, and promoting good sportsmanship and teamwork. The coach will serve as a positive role model for student-athletes and represent the school with integrity and professionalism.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent.
Prior coaching or playing experience; high school or JO experience preferred.
Strong knowledge of the sport, including rules, techniques, and strategy.
Ability to lead, mentor, and connect with high school student-athletes.
Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills.
CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain).
Must meet all school district and state requirements for coaching and pass required background checks.

Responsibilities

Plan, organize, and conduct effective practices and training sessions.
Develop and implement strategies for game play and skill development.
Teach fundamental volleyball techniques and rules to student-athletes.
Promote sportsmanship, discipline, teamwork, and leadership among players.
Manage team equipment and uniforms.
Communicate regularly with parents, school administration, and athletic staff.
Serve as a mentor and advocate for students both on and off the court.
Know and follow all district policies and procedures.
Ensure that all policies and procedures are explained and communicated to the athletes.
Enforce all policies and emphasize teamwork and sportsmanship.
Represent the school and program in a positive way at all times.
Maintain a safe environment for athletes at all times.
Ensure that medical and safety requirements are followed.
Travel on the bus with the team both to and from events.
Monitors the academic performance of team members to ensure that eligibility requirements are met; and encourage student athletes to maintain a high academic standard.
Follow state, conference and school regulations governing the athletic program.
Follow any other instructions and to perform any other related duties as assigned by the Head Varsity Volleyball Coach, Principal or Athletic Director or the appropriate administration.
