About The Position

Dillon’s Contaminant Assessment & Management Discipline is seeking a Junior Hazardous Materials Technician to fill an existing vacancy within our multidisciplinary team of professionals. You will have the opportunity to work on new and exciting projects while providing clients with a fully integrated and superior customer experience. At Dillon, we operate as one team. Requirements

  • A degree and/or diploma in Occupational Health and Safety, Hazardous Materials Management, Environmental or related disciplines.
  • 0-2 years of experience in environmental consulting will be an asset
  • Ability to collect field data according to provincial and/or federal requirements
  • A valid driver’s license
  • Versatile, adaptable, and willing to conduct a variety of tasks
  • Technical knowledge of applicable regulations, standards, guidelines, best practices and monitoring protocols related to hazardous materials
  • Hazardous materials training
  • Proficient in data entry, data compilation and the management of databases
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (MS Word, MS Excel and PowerPoint)
  • Strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication, and organizational skills
  • Proficient in the writing of technical reports

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and complete field programs for Hazardous Materials Assessment surveys, including asbestos and lead sampling and assist in air emissions testing programs
  • Complete documentation of field activities, site health and safety meetings, among others in paper and digital formats (as required)
  • Completion of activities including preparation of sampling plans, collection and compilation of field data, digital geo-referenced data, and completion of field notes
  • Maintain standard protocols for field data collected and reporting standards for Hazardous Materials Assessments
  • Assist in preparation of assessment reports, including: compilation and analysis of data, microscope analysis, and sample inventory
  • Operate, calibrate, and maintain project specific equipment
  • Coordinate with laboratories, clients, subcontractors, third-party stakeholders
  • Providing assistance to project managers on a variety of multidisciplinary teams, with the opportunity develop into a Project Manager
