The Junior Pet Stylist begins a career in Petco Grooming through a ten-week training program. Under close supervision and guidance from experienced groomers, the trainee learns and performs fundamental grooming services, including bathing, drying, brushing, nail trimming, ear cleaning, and gland cleaning. The role also assists with the grooming process while prioritizing pets’ comfort, safety, and well-being and providing customer service to pet parents. Training covers dog behavior, pet and personal safety, check-in and check-out procedures, customer service, grooming policies, and bathing and drying techniques. During weeks 3–10, the Junior Pet Stylist performs bathing and walk-in services while working toward weekly productivity goals. The role also involves maintaining grooming records and appointments, following company grooming and sanitation standards, and cleaning the salon and equipment. Most duties take place indoors in a grooming salon. The work includes direct contact with dogs and pet parents, and the environment may be noisy and wet. The position requires bending, kneeling, standing for long periods, and lifting up to 30 pounds as necessary; some cleaning duties may involve exposure to heights using a two-step ladder or other support tools.
