About The Position

The Junior Graphic Designer is a part-time Letter of Appointment position within the Office of Marketing and Communications. This position reports administratively to Director of Creative Services and receives day-to-day creative direction and work assignments from the Senior Brand and Graphic Designer. The Junior Graphic Designer provides production support for the department's brand and design needs, executing design work under the direction of the Senior Brand and Graphic Designer while developing professional design skills. The Junior Graphic Designer also helps manage day-to-day production requests and brand asset organization in support of the department's creative workload.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree and (2) two years of related profession work experience or a Master's degree and (1) one year of related professional work experience
  • Able to lift and carry up to 20 pounds of weighted supplies
  • Able to stand and walk for long periods of time
  • Skilled in graphic design, visual communications, and digital media
  • Familiar with Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop, inDesign), and Canva

Responsibilities

  • Execute design work on established templates and brand guidelines, including social media graphics, email banners, flyers, signage, and internal collateral
  • Resize and reformat existing brand assets for use across print, digital, and social channels
  • Prepare first-pass layouts and mockups for review and refinement by the Brand and Graphic Designer
  • Complete production revisions based on feedback from the Brand and Graphic Designer
  • Maintain and organize the digital asset library according to established naming conventions, folder structures, and brand guidelines
  • Archive final design files and assets in internal filing systems
  • Respond to internal requests for existing marketing and brand materials
  • Route any proposed changes to file organization or asset structure to the Brand and Graphic Designer for review and approval rather than implementing independently
  • Manage and upload content featured on campus video boards
  • Develop marketing assets and materials for MarCom and other units as assigned
  • Provide day-to-day production support to the Brand and Graphic Designer and broader creative team
  • Track design requests and deadlines in the team's project management system
  • Assist with other creative or administrative tasks as assigned
  • Provide support for special projects as needed
