About The Position

FASTSIGNS SURREY is seeking a dynamic and motivated Junior Graphic Designer to support their Design and Production teams. This role will be responsible for preparing digital design files, setting up wide-format printers and plotters, and managing the pre-production workflow to ensure high-quality signage. The position bridges the gap between design and physical fabrication, requiring proficiency in graphic software and knowledge of signs. FASTSIGNS SURREY will train the right candidates in learning the exciting sign manufacturing industry.

Requirements

  • 1–3+ years of experience in a digital print shop or sign manufacturing environment.
  • Strong skills in Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop) and RIP software (e.g., Onyx, Caldera, VersaWorks).
  • Understanding of sign-making materials, color management, and printing techniques.
  • High precision in setting up layouts, cuts, and bleeds.
  • Ability to stand for long periods and lift materials weighing up to 50 lbs
  • Effective communications skills, with the ability to listen and persuade.
  • Ability to work in a fast- paced environment, multi- task and good time management skills.
  • Analytical thinking with very good problem solving and troubleshooting skills.
  • Takes initiative, strong work ethic, can execute, and gets things done.
  • English language abilities, both written and verbal.

Responsibilities

  • File Preparation & Prepress: Review design proofs, check for errors, and set up files for large format digital printing, vinyl cutting, and routing.
  • Print Setup & Operation: Operate and maintain wide-format printers and plotters (e.g., UV, latex).
  • Material Preparation: Select, load, and manage media such as vinyl, acrylic, aluminum, and PVC for printing.
  • Quality Control (QC): Inspect printed output for color accuracy, resolution, and imperfections before fabrication.
  • Production Scheduling: Organize daily workflows to meet tight deadlines for custom projects.
  • Equipment Maintenance: Perform routine maintenance on printers and plotters to prevent downtime
