The developer will assist with deployment and release engineering, gain experience with AWS services, and develop and run automated tests. The role also includes validating software on physical diagnostic instruments in a laboratory, documenting defects and test results, participating in code reviews and debugging, and using AI-assisted development tools while checking generated code for quality, accuracy, and security. The developer will collaborate with engineering, laboratory, and field-service teams. Scheduled travel to a designated laboratory location is required for hands-on testing and validation.

Requirements

  • Foundational knowledge of React, TypeScript, and modern web application development.
  • Exposure to backend programming with .NET/C#, Python, or FastAPI.
  • Familiarity with REST APIs, Git, version control, and software debugging.
  • Basic understanding of cloud technologies, Docker, CI/CD, and automated testing.
  • Experience with AI-assisted development tools such as GitHub Copilot, Cursor, or Claude Code, including the ability to review and validate generated code.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work independently and accept technical guidance.
  • 0–2 years of software development experience; academic projects, internships, co-op assignments, and personal projects are considered.
  • Hands-on or academic experience with frontend and backend application development.
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Excellent verbal and written English communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with a diverse group.
  • Willingness to travel to a designated laboratory location on a scheduled basis for hands-on instrument testing and software validation.

Nice To Haves

  • Exposure to AWS, Docker, MQTT, AMQP, embedded systems, or device-to-cloud communication.
  • Familiarity with software testing, medical devices, clinical diagnostics, or regulated development practices such as IEC 62304.
  • Interest in cloud-native applications, IoT, device integration, and AI-powered software development.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and enhance responsive web applications using React, TypeScript, and Tailwind CSS.
  • Build and maintain backend services and REST APIs using .NET 8 (C#) and Python (FastAPI).
  • Contribute to cloud-based dashboards, instrument monitoring interfaces, alerts, and software update tracking.
  • Support communication between diagnostic instruments and cloud services using MQTT, AMQP, and REST protocols.
  • Assist with application deployment, software packaging, and release engineering using Docker, MSI/NSIS installers, and GitHub Actions.
  • Gain hands-on experience with AWS services, including ECS Fargate, S3, SQS, and CloudWatch.
  • Develop and execute unit, integration, and end-to-end tests.
  • Validate software enhancements on physical diagnostic instruments in a laboratory environment.
  • Identify, troubleshoot, and document software defects while maintaining accurate test records.
  • Participate in code reviews, debugging, and root-cause analysis.
  • Use AI-assisted development tools to support coding, testing, and debugging, and validate generated code for quality, accuracy, and security.
  • Collaborate with engineering, laboratory, and field-service teams to understand instrument functionality and operational requirements.
