Requirements

  • Currently pursuing or interested in a CPA Designation
  • University Degree in Business or Accounting
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office programs (i.e. Excel, Word, Outlook, etc.)
  • Problem solving and critical thinking in decision making
  • Strong research, reporting, and analytical skills
  • Ability to interact with personnel at all levels within the organization
  • Attention to detail, accuracy
  • Ability to work effectively independently and as a team member
  • Strong verbal / written communication skills and brings positive attitude to work

Responsibilities

  • Analyze and report on key performance indicators as required to assess business health
  • Prepare periodic (weekly, monthly, or quarterly) internal supplemental reports for the purpose of management decision making
  • Prepare supplementary reports to ensure financial statements are accurate and reliable
  • Research, analyze and prepare accounting transactions as needed, e.g. journal entries
  • Participate in various month-end activities, including the preparation of journal entries and the investigation of any issues identified
  • Analyze financial reporting information for internal stakeholders
  • Complete variance analysis of actuals vs budgets and reforecasts on a monthly basis
  • Prepare monthly balance sheet account reconciliations as assigned
  • Evaluate reserve balances, both required and actual, and make recommendations to management
  • Assist with the preparation of quarterly financial statements (including cash flow)
  • Assist with audit testing procedures for both internal and external audits
  • Assist in the preparation of year-end audited financial statements including note disclosures as assigned
  • Perform periodic audits for clients or other stakeholders as required. Evaluate the results and communicate with appropriate personnel
  • Research policies to evaluate transactions for financial reporting purposes in accordance with ASPE
  • Ongoing evaluation of task areas to identify areas for improvements, increased efficiency and risk mitigation
  • Ensure data consistency and integrity in reporting functions
  • Complete ad hoc projects as assigned
