About The Position

Burnside Group of Companies is hiring a Junior Field Representative / Assistant Contract Administrator to join their Orangeville team. This role is ideal for a recent graduate in Civil, Environmental, or Construction Technology seeking hands-on experience, mentorship, and exposure to municipal infrastructure projects. The position involves working with senior technical staff on municipal and Indigenous community infrastructure projects across Ontario and Canada. The role is primarily site-based, with Orangeville as the preferred home office, and offers opportunities to develop field, contract administration, and project coordination skills. Regular travel to remote communities is required, necessitating a willingness to spend time away from home.

Requirements

  • A diploma in Civil Engineering Technology, Environmental Technology, or Construction Technology
  • Strong organization, communication, and relationship-building skills
  • The ability to read and interpret drawings, specifications, and technical documents
  • Sound judgement, attention to detail, and the ability to manage changing priorities
  • Microsoft Office proficiency, especially Excel
  • A valid Class G driver’s license and access to a reliable vehicle

Nice To Haves

  • Progress toward OACETT certification
  • Construction site inspection or field experience
  • Knowledge of AutoCAD and/or Civil 3D
  • A working understanding of Occupational Health and Safety requirements

Responsibilities

  • Inspect active construction sites and help confirm work aligns with drawings and specifications
  • Prepare site inspection reports, meeting notes, and project documentation
  • Coordinate with clients, contractors, owners, and regulatory stakeholders
  • Support contract administration tasks such as RFIs, shop drawings, site instructions, and progress claims
  • Assist with technical investigations, tender documents, cost estimates, and other project support work as experience grows
