Requirements

  • Enrolled in, or a recent graduate of, a relevant undergraduate degree in Civil (Geotechnical/Hydrotechnical/General) or Geological Engineering, Geoscience, Geology, Geophysics or a related field
  • 0-5 years of experience
  • Excellent written, presentation and oral communications
  • MS Office skills
  • Valid driver's license
  • Ability to drive a field pickup truck
  • Current passport

Responsibilities

  • Conduct site investigations, including drilling, downhole testing, test pitting, lab testing, geophysical surveys, instrumentation installation, river/stream inspection, and geohazard assessment.
  • Perform construction monitoring, including dam, pond, and ditch construction, fill placement, foundation excavation, assessment and approval, and instrumentation installations and monitoring.
  • Engage in reporting and interpretation of field data.
  • Conduct engineering or geoscience analysis, including material and site characterization.
  • Interpret instrumentation data.
  • Contribute to designs.
  • Perform geotechnical investigation, assessment, design, and construction monitoring at mine sites for waste management facilities, open pits, underground excavations, access roads, and building foundations.
  • Conduct foundation inspection, oversight of material placement and design conformance, interpretation of field or instrumentation data, seepage, slope stability and deposition analysis, reporting and data reduction, and preparing construction drawings and specifications.
  • Undertake geohazard, geotechnical, and hydrotechnical assessments for pipeline, transportation, community, and power projects.
  • Conduct preliminary hazard inventories (terrain mapping), site investigation through to detailed design and construction of mitigation works.
  • Perform surface and groundwater assessments for environmental baseline studies, water supply projects, design of remediation works, design and construction of water management infrastructure, balance studies, hydrologic assessments, and geohazard risk assessments.
