About The Position

Kent is seeking a motivated Junior Electrical Designer to join our Deer Park, TX office. This role offers an excellent opportunity to develop your technical skills within a supportive, team-oriented environment. You’ll work alongside experienced designers and engineers on industrial power distribution and substation design projects while gaining exposure to a wide range of electrical systems used in the oil & gas and petrochemical industries.

Requirements

  • 1 to 3 years of experience in electrical design for industrial, Oil & Gas, or related facilities.
  • Associate degree or technical diploma in Electrical Design, Engineering Technology, or related discipline.
  • Basic knowledge of electrical design principles and industry codes.
  • Excellent command of the English language in both oral and written communication and skills.
  • Positive, proactive attitude with a willingness to learn.
  • Demonstrates accountability and respect for project deadlines.
  • Strong commitment to safety, quality, and teamwork.
  • Observe the Health, Safety, Sustainability, Environment and Quality rules of the Company; it’s clients and the governing authorities of the host country.

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with AutoCAD and/or 3D modeling tools (e.g., AVEVA E3D, Smart Plant, or similar) preferred.
  • Eagerness to learn substation and power distribution design standards.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing quality work.

Responsibilities

  • Support the development of electrical design deliverables under the guidance of senior team members.
  • Prepare and update drawings such as single-line diagrams, motor schematics, wiring drawings, and layouts.
  • Assist with electrical layouts, including cable tray, lighting, grounding, and electrical room arrangements.
  • Perform basic design calculations (lighting, cable sizing, tray fill) with oversight from senior designers.
  • Support preparation of material take-offs (MTOs), bills of materials (BOMs), cable schedules, and panel schedules.
  • Participate in drawing reviews to ensure compliance with codes, standards, and project requirements.
  • Assist in field verification and site visits to confirm drawing accuracy and collect data.
  • Collaborate with project teams and workshare offices to ensure deliverables are completed accurately and on time.
  • Participate in team meetings and contribute to continuous improvement of design processes.
  • Perform other ad-hoc tasks as needed or directed by the supervisor or management, within the reasonable scope of the employee's skills, capabilities, and role.
