About The Position

Under the direction of the Head Dive Coach, this role is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the dive team and all its functions, including practices, meets, pep rallies, and meet sheet preparation. The position will primarily assist with the day-to-day operations of the Development program, supervising young divers, conducting regular practices, and organizing the team for dive meets. The Junior Dive Coach will ensure communication between coaches, divers, and parents, uphold the team's philosophy, and motivate young divers. This role also involves participating in team meetings, developing skit themes, and contributing to team spirit. Additionally, the Junior Dive Coach will keep records on each diver, maintain the cleanliness and organization of facilities, and teach private lessons, especially to developmental divers. Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • At least 16 years of age
  • Experience that is directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified
  • Must have current Red Cross Lifeguard, First Aid and CPR certifications
  • Or any similar combination of education and experience
  • Excellent supervision skills for divers of all ages (especially children)
  • Knowledge of dive meet operations
  • Basic knowledge of diving techniques
  • Experience as a diver and dive instructor (especially children)
  • Experience with learning to dive programs or water safety instruction
  • Excellent mathematics skills
  • Demonstrated strong oral and written communication skills to a wide variety of constituents, including both divers and parents (children and adults)
  • Demonstrated organization and coordination skills and ability to meet deadlines and multi-task
  • Ability to maintain quality and safety standards and coordinate quality assurance programs in areas of responsibility
  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures or governmental regulations
  • Excellent interpersonal/relationship-building skills
  • Proven record of providing excellent internal and external customer service

Responsibilities

  • Supervise young divers on a daily basis
  • Conduct regular practices
  • Organize team for dive meets and get them prepared to dive
  • Attend all practices, meets, pep rallies and any other dive team function, informing supervisor of any conflicts
  • Attend Meet the Coaches night
  • Organize divers at dive meets and get them prepared to dive
  • Ensure communication between coaches, divers and parents
  • Uphold the philosophy of the dive team
  • Lead and motivate young divers to be the best they can be
  • Participate in opening dive team meeting
  • Participate in developing skit themes for each meet and with the production of weekly skits at meets and pep rallies
  • Participate in decorating houses for champs
  • Participate with daily ideas and spirit
  • Stay enthusiastic with young divers at all times and have fun working with the youngest group on our team
  • Keep records on each diver and update record boards appropriately
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the facilities, especially the Coach’s office and other storage areas; ensure set-up and break-down of the pool for practices and meets
  • Abide by the current Bylaws of the CCSDA, Bylaws and Rules & Customs of WGCC
  • Teach private lessons to any and all members of the dive team on a daily basis, especially developmental divers
  • Other duties as assigned
