About The Position

Associated Students, Inc. (ASI) is a non-profit corporation established in 1963, guided by a student board and managed by professional staff. ASI is part of the Cal Poly Pomona Division of Student Affairs and serves over 27,000 students by providing engagement opportunities, employment, and various programs and services including recreation, wellness, student union activities, student government, and childcare. ASI also has operational support areas in human resources, finance, IT, facilities, and marketing. The award-winning Marketing & Strategic Communications team, founded in 1995, uses a combination of student and professional staff talent and cutting-edge technology to maintain creative and dynamic marketing strategies. This team handles ASI's internal marketing needs and also offers its experienced, competitively priced design and marketing communications services to the campus and local community. Services include digital bulletin board advertisements, social media marketing, and the design of logos, brochures, and posters.

  • Must be currently enrolled in a minimum of 6.0 units (undergraduate) or 4.0 units (graduate)
  • Must have a minimum overall and Cal Poly Pomona GPA of 2.0 and be in good academic standing

Nice To Haves

  • Preference will be given to students enrolled in VCD 1311A, 1321A, 1341A, 1312A, 1331A, and/or 1351A.
  • Preferred to be enrolled in the following classes: VCD 1311A Foundations in Drawing 1, VCD 1321A Foundations in 2D Design, VCD 1341A Foundations in 4D Design, VCD 1312A Foundations in Drawing 2, VCD 1331A - Foundations in 3D Design, VCD 1351A - Foundations in 5D Design.

Responsibilities

  • Adapts and prepares designs for print, social media, and digital applications
  • Assists in photography selection and manipulation, including masking, resizing, recoloring, etc.
  • Assists with developing original marketing assets
  • Assists with design updates and edits
  • Prepares mockups for merchandise and production needs
  • Prepares artwork for proofing and production
  • Maintains and encourages proper application of ASI’s visual brand identity
  • Works with the Production team to resolve production artwork issues
  • Performs other duties as assigned
  • Maintains organizational file structure for all design related files
  • Communicates with requestors, clients, and Junior Designer Supervisor to complete projects
  • Participates in team meetings
  • Takes part in regular professional development trainings and opportunities
  • Provides creative insight for projects related to print, experiential, environmental, social media, and digital media
  • Works closely with the Junior Designer Supervisor, Senior Designers, and Production team to complete assignments
  • Collaborates with the Senior Design team, as needed, to develop and create graphics to support ASI’s brand and visual identity
