About The Position

Boeing Vancouver is seeking a Junior Data Scientist to join their team in Richmond, British Columbia. This hybrid role involves leveraging foundational analytics to enhance customer-facing software tools, products, and services within the Digital Services team. The Junior Data Scientist will collaborate with cross-functional data science and software development teams to create operational solutions for the aviation and aerospace industry. Key responsibilities include understanding customer challenges and business needs, applying data science techniques such as NLP, MLOps, and optimization, and contributing to a culture of learning. The role requires a strong foundation in data science and software development, with a focus on customer needs. Successful candidates will possess problem-solving expertise and energy for text analysis, AI, and analytics within the digital aviation team. Assignments may involve fine-tuning generative LLMs, logistic regression, MLOps pipeline management, multimodal/text data ingestion, and RAG/graph-RAG development. A strong interest and experience in Natural Language Processing technologies, including discriminative and generative language models, classifiers, clustering models, and conversational AI, are ideal. Experience with agentic solutions, prompt engineering, and harness engineering is also desired. Boeing Vancouver's data scientists analyze complex aviation systems, combining scientific thinking, mathematical prowess, and analytics technology with creativity to uncover insights from data. They leverage practical knowledge of engineering, business, and aviation to build internal and external solutions.

Requirements

  • 2+ years’ experience working as part of an integrated data science development team.
  • Demonstrated experience in applied machine learning.
  • 2+ years of experience with Python.
  • 2+ years of experience with data querying.
  • Experience writing code in a collaborative environment (e.g. using Git).
  • Must be legally able to work in Canada.
  • Individual must not pose a risk for safeguarding of controlled goods.
  • Must be eligible to handle US export-controlled data.

Nice To Haves

  • Domain knowledge of the aviation & aerospace industry.
