About The Position

We are seeking a Junior Data Platform Engineer to support the operations, reliability, and security of our enterprise data platforms, including Microsoft SQL Server and Snowflake. This role provides hands‑on assistance to senior engineers and DBAs by performing routine administrative tasks, monitoring system performance, helping maintain integrations, and supporting data delivery across the organization. The ideal candidate is eager to learn both cloud and on‑premises data technologies, detail‑oriented, and motivated to grow their skills in SQL Server administration, Snowflake operations, and data engineering workflows.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field or equivalent experience can be substituted.
  • 3-5 years of experience in SQL Server, Snowflake, data engineering, database operations, or related technical field.
  • Basic understanding of Microsoft SQL Server, SQL queries, and relational database concepts.
  • Familiarity with cloud data warehouses such as Snowflake.
  • Understanding of RBAC and general security principles.
  • Experience with SSIS and other ETL/ELT processes and data integration tools.
  • Ability to work onsite at the bank’s headquarters in Greenville, South Carolina.
  • Exposure to Python or other scripting languages for automation.
  • Familiarity with Azure or other cloud platforms.
  • Must be able to pass a criminal background & credit check

Responsibilities

  • Assist in daily administration of Microsoft SQL Server, including monitoring, user management, backups, and basic troubleshooting.
  • Support Snowflake administrative tasks such as user/role management, basic security configuration, and access troubleshooting.
  • Help maintain integrations such as API connectors, storage integrations, and external access connections.
  • Monitor platform health and escalate issues to senior engineers or DBAs when needed.
  • Oversee account configuration, role hierarchy, and security policies.
  • Establish and maintain API integrations, storage integrations, External access integrations, or native apps.
  • Ensure high availability and disaster recovery readiness.
  • Participate in automation efforts for SQL Server and Snowflake administrative tasks under the guidance of senior staff.
  • Assist with CI/CD processes, including database deployments and testing.
  • Support infrastructure‑as‑code efforts as appropriate.
  • Support adherence to data governance practices, including tagging, classification, and retention policies across SQL Server and Snowflake.
  • Assist in preparing information for audits and compliance reviews.
  • Work with data engineering, analytics, and security teams to help address operational needs across both SQL Server and Snowflake environments.
  • Provide support for access issues, query performance questions, and general platform usage inquiries.
